ALS is a devastating disease and one about which we are all still learning. Normally the ALS Association  receives $2 -$3 million in donations each year.  However, as of September 12, 2014 due to the Ice Challenge this summer the ALS Association has received $112.4 million in Ice Bucket Challenge donations!  Amazing!!!

Thank you to all who participated in the Wiggins Place ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Together we will find a cure!!

A Celebration of Anne Wolfsohn

On August 31, 2014 The Salkin Family hosted a wonderful event to celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anne Wolfsohn.

Anne Wolfsohn was an original tenant who moved into Wiggins Place in 2004.

In order to celebrate her life her family, headed by Anne's daughter Laura Salkin, had The Nice Jazz Band entertain everyone.  The Tenants were then visited by the East Coast Custard truck where everyone was able to pick out a cone or a sundae.  This was perfect for a hot Cleveland day AND perfect to remember a great lady who was a truly valued member of our Wiggins Place community.

Thank you to Laura Salkin and family for sharing their special day with us and treating everyone to a sweet afternoon.

East Coast Custard truck.  Anne loved ice cream

Sundae or cone...you decide!

Fun treats for kids and kids at heart

The Nice Jazz Band performed beautifully in Anne's honor

Laura Salkin, Anne's devoted daughter, thanks everyone for coming and talks about what Wiggins Place meant to her mother

Wiggins Place Tenants enjoy many activities every day including lectures, seminars and Menorah Park's fabulous Scholar on Campus program.  Today was no exception as we welcomed Jessica Michna, Founder of First Impressions to Wiggins Place.

Ms. Michna expertly crafts authentic characters through historic research, costume design and scripting.  Today she brought to life the "First Lady of the World" Eleanor Roosevelt.

Through her characterization and performance Mrs. Roosevelt shared the tragedies, triumphs and life experiences that strengthened and helped her to emerge as a champion of civil rights, author and a stateswoman.

We look forward to welcoming Ms. Michna back to the Menorah Park Campus in the future as her program was a real success.

The Wiggins Place Tenants and our guests from the community listen intently to Mrs. Roosevelt's stories about life as the First Lady
