Another Perfect Wiggins Place Survey!

On December 31, 2014 the Ohio Department of Health made an unannounced visit to Wiggins Place for our Annual inspection.

For another year we received perfect results and were found in compliance.

In appreciation Nancy Sutula, Wiggins Place Administrator made the whole Wiggins Place staff waffles with all the toppings today!! So yummy!

Nancy Sutula, Wiggins Place Administrator, donned a hair net and made the best waffles this side of town!

Cheryl Isaacson, Wiggins Place Social Worker, acts as Sous Chef and stands by in case any help with the waffles is needed
Chris Mansour, Director of EVS, surveys the toppings table and ponders the really touch decision of what to put on his waffle

The toppings table...everything you could ever want...mmmmm

Thank you Nancy Sutula for a lovely treat and thank you to all the Wiggins Place staff for another perfect survey.

Thank you to all who participated in the Wiggins Place ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Together we will find a cure!!

A Celebration of Anne Wolfsohn

On August 31, 2014 The Salkin Family hosted a wonderful event to celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anne Wolfsohn.

Anne Wolfsohn was an original tenant who moved into Wiggins Place in 2004.

In order to celebrate her life her family, headed by Anne's daughter Laura Salkin, had The Nice Jazz Band entertain everyone.  The Tenants were then visited by the East Coast Custard truck where everyone was able to pick out a cone or a sundae.  This was perfect for a hot Cleveland day AND perfect to remember a great lady who was a truly valued member of our Wiggins Place community.

Thank you to Laura Salkin and family for sharing their special day with us and treating everyone to a sweet afternoon.

East Coast Custard truck.  Anne loved ice cream

Sundae or cone...you decide!

Fun treats for kids and kids at heart

The Nice Jazz Band performed beautifully in Anne's honor

Laura Salkin, Anne's devoted daughter, thanks everyone for coming and talks about what Wiggins Place meant to her mother

Wiggins Place Tenants enjoy many activities every day including lectures, seminars and Menorah Park's fabulous Scholar on Campus program.  Today was no exception as we welcomed Jessica Michna, Founder of First Impressions to Wiggins Place.

Ms. Michna expertly crafts authentic characters through historic research, costume design and scripting.  Today she brought to life the "First Lady of the World" Eleanor Roosevelt.

Through her characterization and performance Mrs. Roosevelt shared the tragedies, triumphs and life experiences that strengthened and helped her to emerge as a champion of civil rights, author and a stateswoman.

We look forward to welcoming Ms. Michna back to the Menorah Park Campus in the future as her program was a real success.

The Wiggins Place Tenants and our guests from the community listen intently to Mrs. Roosevelt's stories about life as the First Lady

Goodtime III

There are so many different outings each week at Wiggins Place and it is really exciting to take advantage of the brief, warm weather during the summer months to explore new activities and revisit old favorites.  Today Tracy Derschau, Wiggins Place Director of Life Enrichment and Robin Fink, Activities Coordinator accompanied the tenants on a fabulous tour of Cleveland on the Goodtime III.

The reviews of the the Goodtime III are terrific "... you cannot match the experience of a cruise on the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie aboard Cleveland's largest sight-seeing vessel. The Goodtime III is the largest quadruple-deck 1,000 passenger luxury ship on the Great Lakes, which offers plenty of room, and you are not confined to your seats."

The cruise offers wonderful seaside views of Cleveland and the fresh sea air along with an opportunity to enjoy the warm weather and relive memories of past cruises or adventures at sea.

If you would like to see where the tenants are going and what they are doing please contact Tracy Derschau at 216-831-2881 to request an activity calendar.

Anne Berk honored

Wiggins Place tenant, Anne Berk, an artist and longtime supporter and docent at the Cleveland Museum of Art was honored on June 5th by the staff at the Museum for her long career of service to the arts and the museum patrons.

Anne has always enjoyed sharing her passion and love for the arts especially with young children.  She has believed that fostering an appreciation and love for art of any kind when children are young is crucial to sustaining the arts and a child's education.

Below Anne poses with the certificate she received at the ceremony.

Congratulations, Anne!
